Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Process Engineer for our Allendale OSB facility in Fairfax, SC. Our open position is one of a five-member Process Control / Quality Team, which reports to the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual, and display personal ownership of Safety, Environmental, Manufacturing and Operational initiatives while working effectively in a Team Environment.
The role of the Process Engineer is to support the Process Control, Quality, and Manufacturing Teams to integrate process improvements, and quality systems to improve mill performance. This position requires the ability to think independently, communicate effectively, and make decisions that impact plant performance.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Work closely with area owners and operators to identify and implement process improvements, related to quality, value and yield.
Work with operations and maintenance associates to identify and prioritize production, quality and maintenance needs that impact plant performance.
Prepare and execute trial plans for raw material evaluations, process optimization and cost reductions.
Support Quality Management System requirements, for product testing and certifications, process and test equipment, and calibrations.
Preparation of various engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as Process Flow Diagrams, P & I Diagrams, Process Datasheets, Equipment Specifications, Cause & Effect Diagrams, Process Safety / HAZOP Studies, Operation Manuals / SOPs. and provide necessary engineering inputs to the other disciplines and departments.
Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures and actively participate in the EH&S programs for Process Safety and Management of Change.
Driving Environmental, Health and Safety excellence through personal ownership and promoting employee involvement, accountability to proactively identity and eliminate hazards.
Assist with Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations on Manufacturing or Quality issues.
Work with OEMs, contractors, and manufacturing to optimize production processes, by reducing variability, increasing reliability, and performance of plant operation.
Support planning & scheduling for manpower & raw material resource forecasts.
Performing inspections, testing and analysis for in-process and finished product quality and develop opportunities for continuous improvement.
Assist with training and knowledge shares with operators and technicians on process systems to help improve their operating and troubleshooting effectiveness.
Compile and analyze data to improve processes and reduce variation.
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications
B.S. ENGINEERING or WOOD SCIENCE.
Willing and able to support weekend and off-hour duty for 24-hour manufacturing process.
Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment.
Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include safety equipment, i.e.: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots and other PPE as required by specific job.
Willing and able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment.
